An Afternoon in June is a short, light hearted piece I wrote for my high school orchestra. It was written for the final
concert I would have the pleasure of conducting at Stuyvesant High School. In a way, it is an envoi to the great times I had
with that orchestra.
Program Note
An Afternoon in June is meant to be descriptive of the lighter side of life in New York. It is in the key of D major
and takes the form of a prelude and fugue. The harmony is largely traditional, though the piece employs a wealth of 7th
and added note chords and digresses at times to harmony from the 20th century and beyond.
