Three Summer Scenes
for solo piano
1. Dancing
2. Awake
at Night
3. Morning Rush
This suite came about during the summer of 2007. I had written two short piano
pieces – “Dancing” and “Awake at Night” – when I decided to tie them together with a third
piece “Morning Rush.” The pieces are rhythmic, lyrical, and largely diatonic. They are meant to be descriptive
of some of the fun, excitement, and reflection that summer breaks can have to offer.
Performance time is roughly
7’.
This suite also exists in a four hand version, arranged by Paul Alan Levi.
